Ectopic pregnancy is a significant source of morbidity for women of childbearing age and represents one of the most common conditions presenting as an emergency in a busy women’s hospital. Familiarity with the wide spectrum of ultrasonographic appearances of ectopic pregnancies and the ability to recognise a normal intrauterine pregnancy are essential for the correct diagnosis.
