INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS

 

Hong Kong Journal of Radiology is the official peer-reviewed academic journal of the Hong Kong College of Radiologists. It is a multidisciplinary journal covering research work pertaining to the science and practice of the component specialties of the College. It aims to contribute to the training and academic development of members and fellows, and to support the educational objectives of the College. The journal publishes various categories of papers, including reviews, original articles, pictorial essays, case reports, brief communication, and letters to the editor. Manuscripts will be subject to prompt peer review.

 

Manuscripts: Manuscripts must be unpublished works that are not under consideration by another publication. Manuscripts must be written in English. Double-space all text, including references and figure legends. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the article has been seen and approved by all the other authors. Manuscripts should be submitted via a web-based submission system: HKAMedTrack.

 

Patient identification should be obscured; for patient photographs, patient’s written consent is needed. Arrows and other symbols should be used to indicate subtle but salient points.

 

References: References should be numbered consecutively in order of appearance in the text. Each reference citation should be in superscript after full-stops and commas. Do not include uncompleted work or work that has not yet been accepted for publication as references. Abbreviations for periodicals should conform to those used in Index Medicus and include the complete title and names and initials of all authors. The data contained in the references should conform with the following examples:

Acknowledgement(s): Acknowledgements should include any research or project support, or any conflicts of interest.

 

Ethics: The Methods section should state whether animal or human studies were approved by a local ethics committee.

 

Copyright: On acceptance of an article by the journal, the corresponding author will be asked to transfer copyright of the article to the College.

 

Editing: Accepted manuscripts will be copyedited according to journal style. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work, including changes made by the copy editor.

 

Proofs and Reprints: The corresponding author will receive page proofs, which should be proofread and returned promptly. Corrections are limited to printer’s errors — no substantial author’s changes will be made without charge. 20 complimentary copies of reprints will be sent to authors.
